All Education Articles The American Public School System is a Failure
J. D. Longstreet—11/30/09 The Public Schools system of the US has crashed and burned! No longer are our children the best educated in the world. Now our scholars rank among the less well educated even among a few of the third world countries. This is a shame we have brought upon ourselves by inviting the Federal Government and the Unions into our schools.
Blame America’s Parents For This Mess.
J. D. Longstreet—6/9/09 When a village raises your children, and those children reach voting age, you get a country with a government just like the US government today. You get a country with an economy just like the economy the US has today. You get a country with morals just like the morals the US has today, in other words - you get a socialist country, which is imploding, caving in, upon itself - just like America in 2009.
The Groves of Hackademe
Burt Prelutsky—3/2/09 Down through the years, there have been a great many movies in which school teachers have been portrayed as decent and hard-working, even heroic. Just a handful that come to mind are “Goodbye, Mr. Chips,” “Holland’s Opus,” “This Land is Mine,” “Up the Down Staircase,” “Good Morning, Miss Dove,” “Cheers for Miss Bishop,” “The School of Rock,” “Dangerous Minds,” “Blackboard Jungle,” “To Sir, With Love,” “Stand and Deliver” and “Dead Poet’s Society.”
Education or Edjukashun?
Alan Caruba—2/17/09 My father used to say that there was no defense against stupidity. He was a very smart man. When he entered kindergarten in the early 1900's, he spoke his parent's native language of Italian. The teacher seated him beside a boy who spoke both English and Italian, and he learned English. Nobody gave it any more thought than that.
